Position Summary
Thousands of kids need extra help building a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy skills before Kindergarten. Take action as an Early Learning Tutor and help kids emerge stronger and ready for school.
As an Early Learning Tutor, you’ll spend your days helping kids ages 3-5 to talk, read, write, sing, and play in order to develop early literacy and math skills. Working closely with a teacher in a classroom, you’ll enhance daily activities and help our youngest learners build both skills and confidence.
With great training and on-site coaching, we’ll prepare you to help kids succeed. Students make the most progress when you are there, so our tutors serve during school hours and are needed for the entire school year. We are currently recruiting tutors for the 2023-24 school year, with the option of beginning in August, October or January.
This is an AmeriCorps member position with Early Learning Corps and you’ll be joining a team of 300 tutors nationwide. Together, we’re on a mission to help our youngest learners get ready for school!
What to Expect
Early Learning Corps takes ordinary people and trains them to be great tutors. Anyone can become a tutor as long as they have a passion to take action for kids – and meet the following minimum qualifications.
By the time they begin their service, our tutors are:
*Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.

*The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ at the start of their service term may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child, or stepchild.
