Valley Queen was founded in 1929 and is located in Milbank, SD.


Position Summary 

This position provides second level support and maintains end user computing devices (e.g. desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, fax and copy equipment). The IT Support Technician installs and troubleshoots hardware, software, and network problems, escalating to the responsible area with accurate information and providing technical guidance and assistance. This position will also assist in end-user training and provide backup coverage for the Help Desk Technician.

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install, configure and perform testing activities on various computer equipment, peripherals, data communications, telecommunications, and computer network systems.
  • Respond to user incident or service requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist IT Support Administrator in installing new and maintaining existing hardware and software on the network.
  • Assist Infrastructure and Security Specialist in maintaining core components of system including servers, switches, modems, firewall, cable, and backup system.
  • Consult with and assist manufacturers’ representatives in the installation of new and existing technology.
  • Maintain proper documentation for configurations, inventory, procedures and login information.
  • Organize, document, and maintain IT hardware and software assets.
  • Follow policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations and to safeguard information resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of systems and hardware developments and incorporate new developments into the future systems of the company.
  • Perform end-user technology onboarding procedures including user account creation, computer imaging, workstation setup, and user orientation.
  • Perform end-user technology offboarding procedures including disabling user account, email/file backup, and hardware collection.
  • Communicate professionally and appropriately with end-users, co-workers, management, and vendors.
  • Maintain highest level of confidentiality with all company information.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technology.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Occasional overnight travel may be necessary for training.


Physical Demands
The physical demands for this position are mainly able to do sedentary work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently will need to sit, stand, walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Required Education, Experience & Certifications
High school diploma or GED is required for this position. Working knowledge of Microsoft business applications. Two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education, Experience & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field and/or equivalent experience. Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies desired. Hands-on experience with common PC software and hardware and A+ and Cisco certifications are strongly preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish.
