Description

A Machinist is responsible for the following duties:

  • Know and follow safe operating procedures
  • Process our machined parts as required for production jobs
  • Understand and execute set-up and safe operations of Brake, Shear, Ironworker, Band Saw, Drill Presses, Turning Lathes, Horizontal Mill, and other machines as required
  • Understand machine capacities
  • Understand proper machine adjustments and maintenance
  • Lay out raw materials for minimal drop
  • Make sure drop material is picked up and in its proper location
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Able to read 1/8” , 1/16”, and 1/32” gradations
  • Able to convert feet/inches
  • Understand conversion of inches/decimals (using conversion chart)
  • Able to read blueprints
  • Understand how to use dial caliper and veneer
  • Understand dimensioning and sizing of common structural steel sizes
  • Know difference between various grades and types of steel
  • Know and follow safe operating and lifting procedures
  • Be aware of load limits
  • Be aware of proper maintenance
  • Acquire and maintain training certificate
